Naming Ceremony of Lam Tai Fai Amphitheatre at
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
The Naming Ceremony of Lam Tai Fai Amphitheatre was held on 18th May 2015 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The Amphitheatre is a sector-shaped area inside PolyU which connects the Jockey Club Auditorium and the Choi Kai Yau Building (Block QR). It is named after Dr. Lam Tai Fai, SBS, BBS, JP, our school Supervisor, for his notable contributions to the textile and clothing industry and his dedication to serving the public, education sector, as well as his generous support to PolyU.
Mrs. Carrie Lam, GBS, JP, Acting Chief Executive, and Prof. Timothy W. Tong, President of PolyU, officiated at the ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling ceremonies of the Lam Tai Fai Amphitheatre. Mrs. Lam, Mr. John Fan Kam Ping, Deputy Supervisor; Prof. Philip Yeung Kwok Wing, Prof. Chung Pak Kwong, Prof. Raymond Au Wai Man and Mr. Alex Wong Chun Bong, School Managers; Mr. Raymond Wong Kwong Wai, our Principal and Ms. Erika Ng Ming Yin, our Deputy Principal attended the Ceremony together with selected LTFC students.
After the Ceremony, our students were invited to join a guided campus tour and were shown some of the edge-cutting technology including the Jockey Club Innovation Tower and the House of Innovation in the University.
The Amphitheatre, covering a sector-shaped area of approximately 1,100 sq. metres and a five-tier podium accommodating up to 200 spectators, offers a spacious environment ideal for outdoor performances, gatherings, displays and exhibitions.
