OUR I&T

Lam Tai Fai College adheres to its founding philosophy by offering an innovative and broad curriculum with a special emphasis on Innovative Technology. Innovation and Technology (I&T) is one of the key Focus Learning Areas (FLA) in the College. The development of I&T can inject new impetus into the economy, improve people's quality of life, and create quality jobs for young people. The College's I&T FLA is designed to cater to students who pursue academic excellence and show potential or proven talents in new technologies. With expertise and professional support, the College strives to enhance its teaching team, curriculum, pedagogy, and facilities to ensure high teaching and learning effectiveness.

OBJECTIVES

The College is actively pursuing the following objectives in I&T development:

  1. To construct a school-based holistic curriculum for Innovation & Technology education.
  2. To broaden students' horizons and enabling them to realize their potential and embrace the future with confidence in new technologies.
  3. To promote and support the continuous professional development of panel members to foster a vibrant teaching team.

HOLISTIC CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK

The College offers a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary formal curriculum, taster programs, interest groups, enhancement groups, elite teams and service groups, catering to various student needs.

The school-based curriculum emphasizes the integration of design thinking and technologies, including coding, artificial intelligence, robotics technologies, 3D graphics and printing, healthcare technologies, fintech, digital literacy, and more. The aim is to cultivate innovative, elegant, and commercially successful ideas.

Holistic framework to cater for student needs

Junior Secondary (S1 to S3) I&T:

  • To provide students with an understanding of basic IT tools, such as office automation and different learning platforms.
  • To develop students' logical thinking through blocky coding practices.
  • To equip students with new technology skills through hands-on activities and collaborative learning.
  • To offer a pathway to the ICT curriculum for senior secondary education.

Senior Secondary (S4 to S6) ICT:

  • To provide students with essential knowledge, concepts, and applications of information, communication, and computer systems.
  • To enhance problem-solving and communication skills, fostering critical and creative thinking.
  • To develop students into competent, effective, discerning, ethical, and confident users of ICT, supporting lifelong learning.
  • To offer opportunities to appreciate the impact of ICT on our knowledge-based society, nurturing positive values and attitudes towards this field.

  • To develop students' analytical skills from a general perspective and encourages the implementation of solutions using command-line coding.

IT Ambassadors

  • To nurture students' information literacy, enabling them to effectively use information technology through diverse learning activities and services, while fostering positive service attitudes.
  • To train students to become responsible IT leaders, empowering them to be responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
  • To act as liaisons between students and various subjects and committees.
