Congratulations to our esteemed alumnus, Grace Lau, on her extraordinary achievement at the recent 12th World Games. In a thrilling showdown against Japan's Mayu Ono, Grace delivered an almost flawless performance, securing the gold medal with a remarkable score of 45.3 points.

This victory marks a significant milestone for the Hong Kong team, as it is their first medal at this year’s World Games. Grace's triumph also represents her personal best at the World Games, fulfilling her long-held dream of winning a gold medal on this prestigious stage.

Grace's journey to gold began with an impressive display in the group stage, where she triumphed in all three of her matches. At the finals between the world’s top two karatekas, Ono took to the mat first, setting a high standard. However, Grace remained unfazed by Ono's performance, with 43.6 points. She showcased superior power, speed, rhythm, explosiveness, and stability.

Handling pressure well and having confidence in yourself proves to be a critical task for athletes, but it is certainly easier said than done. Grace’s success is a reminder of the unthinkable mental and physical strength behind every athlete. We hope her journey continues to motivate others to pursue their dreams relentlessly. Once again, congratulations, Grace!
